DoorDash confirmed Tuesday morning that its online ordering platform was experiencing an issue affecting customers across the country. The company acknowledged the disruption in a post on X, stating, “We’re aware of an issue affecting our platform and are working urgently to resolve it. We thank our users for their patience and understanding, and apologize for any inconvenience.”
According to DownDetector, a service that tracks outages, users began reporting problems shortly after 9:30 a.m. ET. By 10:20 a.m., tens of thousands of complaints had been logged, indicating a widespread failure that disrupted food deliveries for many.
A representative for DoorDash told The World Signal that the company started bringing the service “back online” around 11:30 a.m. ET, but declined to comment on the nature of the issue. The outage left many customers in a lurch, with some saying they had placed orders that vanished from the app. One user described the situation as orders “just sitting in limbo.”
The disruption also affected delivery workers. A person identifying as a DoorDash driver posted on X that they had completed a drop-off but were unable to mark the order as delivered in the app, raising concerns about payment and ratings.
By 11 a.m. ET, some users reported that the service had resumed normal operations, though not all were back online immediately. The company did not provide a timeline for full restoration or details on what caused the failure.
This incident comes as food delivery platforms face increasing scrutiny over reliability and worker conditions. The outage echoes a recent global outage at Meta that disrupted Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, highlighting the fragility of digital infrastructure that millions rely on daily.
DoorDash has not indicated whether the issue was related to a cyberattack or a technical glitch. The company’s silence on the root cause may fuel concerns among users and investors about the platform’s stability, especially as it competes with Uber Eats and Grubhub in a crowded market.
This is a developing story. The World Signal will update as more information becomes available.
