Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) engaged in a heated confrontation with a Fox News Digital reporter over the weekend, posting a video on X in which he asks the journalist, “So let me ask you, I heard that you like gay porn, is that true?”

The reporter, Nicholas Ballasy, had approached Massie to ask about allegations from an ex-girlfriend that the congressman offered her money and asked her to sign a nondisclosure agreement. Ballasy later posted his own video of the exchange.

Supreme Court Temporarily Blocks Trump's Firing of Fed Governor Lisa Cook
The Supreme Court blocked President Trump's firing of Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook in a 5-4 decision, ruling she can stay on the job while her legal challenge proceeds.

In the footage, Ballasy says, “Congressman, I’m not … I just wanted to give you a chance to give your side of it, that’s all.” Massie, who was defeated in a primary earlier this year by a Trump-backed challenger, followed the reporter as he tried to walk away, insisting, “I’m giving you a chance to give your side.”

Massie then pressed Ballasy: “Are you a real news organization or not? No come back, man. All you got to say is you don’t like it, that you haven’t been to those websites.” When Ballasy replied, “Of course I don’t like it. But thank you,” Massie shot back, “Oh really? That’s not what I heard.”

Ballasy, in a subsequent post on X, wrote: “Congressman Massie made up that question on the fly — it’s based on nothing and it’s pretty sick that was the first thing on his mind.” He added, “I was asking him about allegations about him made by an ex on the record and giving him a chance to respond. I deny the allegations he made up about me.”

Massie lost his primary race to a Trump-backed opponent earlier this year, after the president had sought to oust him from Congress. The Republican has not ruled out a run for office again in 2028. The confrontation comes amid broader tensions between Massie and the GOP establishment, as noted in our piece on the Massie-Greene alliance signaling conservative discontent with Trump's grip on the GOP.

Massie has also been vocal about other issues, recently accusing top DOJ officials of perjury over Epstein files, as covered in Massie's accusations against top DOJ officials. The congressman’s combative style reflects a broader conservative frustration with media and party leadership, a theme explored in Massie's warning that the GOP faces an 'absolute shellacking' in midterms.

The incident underscores the increasingly personal and confrontational nature of political journalism, where reporters covering lawmakers face direct attacks. Ballasy’s account stands in stark contrast to Massie’s video, which attempted to turn the tables on the reporter by raising an unrelated and unsubstantiated claim.
