Raising Cane's is accelerating its growth, with eight new restaurants opening this month and several more on the horizon. The chicken chain, known for its fried chicken fingers and Texas toast, now operates more than 960 locations across nearly every state.

While the expansion doesn't introduce the brand to any new states, it does bring Cane's to new communities. Jonesboro, Arkansas, will get its first location on May 12, ending a drive of over an hour to Little Rock or Memphis for residents craving the chain's signature sauce. In Queens, New York, a new drive-thru on Merrick Boulevard in Laurelton opens May 13, marking the chain's first drive-thru in the borough.

Other openings this month include El Centro, California (May 12); Greensboro, North Carolina (May 22); and sites in Owings Mills, Maryland; Gainesville, Florida; and Akron, Ohio (all May 27). Two remodeled locations are also reopening: one in Oklahoma City on May 4 and another in Lexington, Kentucky, on May 18.

“Our growth this May reflects both where we’re headed and the excitement we have for what’s ahead,” a company spokesperson said. “As we grow, our focus remains on delivering the same energy and connection that define the Cane’s experience.”

Raising Cane's has previously stated its ambition to operate in every state and all major U.S. cities. The chain says population density heavily influences its decisions on where and when to enter new markets. That could be welcome news for residents in Maine, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming—the six states currently without a location.

Beyond May's openings, the company lists several “coming soon” sites, including Alhambra, Lemon Grove, Inglewood, and Los Angeles in California; Kissimmee and Pensacola in Florida; Vernon Hills, Illinois; and Lynnwood, Washington.

The expansion comes amid broader economic shifts, including debates over trade and energy policy that affect supply chains and labor markets. As the chain grows, it also navigates a changing political landscape. For insights into how domestic political dynamics are shifting, read about the DNC's electoral wins despite fundraising gaps and the tightening midterm battle that could influence business-friendly policies.

Raising Cane's continues to bet that its focused menu and community engagement will sustain its rapid expansion. Whether it can maintain that momentum in an increasingly competitive fast-food market remains to be seen.
