Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) launched a blistering attack on President Trump Wednesday over the economy and inflation, declaring the nation is “IN DECLINE.” In a post on X, Greene highlighted what she called the devastating impact of Trump’s military campaign in Iran on everyday Americans, drawing a direct parallel to the price spikes that conservatives once pinned on the Biden administration.

“Unbelievable!! Here is exactly what Trump's war on Iran, costing billions everyday, is doing to Americans. MAGA used to call this Biden inflation and scream from the rooftops over this garbage,” Greene wrote. She added, “NOT WHAT WE CAMPAIGNED FOR. NOT WHAT PEOPLE VOTED FOR. NATION IN DECLINE.”

Democrats Block FISA Extension Unless Trump Removes Pulte from DNI Role
Senate Democrats are blocking a short-term FISA 702 extension unless President Trump removes Bill Pulte as acting DNI and returns Aaron Lukas to the post.

The outburst came after the Department of Labor released data showing the annual inflation rate climbing to its highest point in three years. The consumer price index rose 4.2 percent over the past year and 0.5 percent in May alone, marking the first time it has surpassed 4 percent since May 2023. May’s inflation surge hit seven items hardest, squeezing household budgets.

Trump has largely downplayed affordability concerns since launching the Iran conflict, even as higher gas and grocery prices drag down his approval numbers. Last week, he boasted that it was “raining jobs” after a stronger-than-expected employment report. On Wednesday, he brushed off the latest inflation figures during a brief exchange with reporters in the Oval Office.

Greene, once a loyal Trump ally, resigned from Congress in January after a very public falling out with the president. Last November, the Georgia Republican said she refused to be a “battered wife” in the wake of their rift. Her break with Trump has widened over foreign policy, including funding for the war in Ukraine, as well as healthcare policy and the push to release files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

She has also been a vocal critic of the ongoing conflict with Iran, remarking shortly after hostilities began that “we're in another f---ing war, and we've got American troops being killed.” Trump has warned of more strikes on Iran as retaliatory attacks escalate.

Greene’s latest broadside underscores a growing fissure within the MAGA base over economic priorities. While the president has celebrated the inflation data, claiming it reflects a strong economy, critics argue it erases the narrative that once blamed Biden for similar price hikes. Trump celebrated the May inflation surge amid the Iran conflict, saying, “I love it.”
