The White House and President Trump's reelection campaign have quietly removed Taylor Swift's music from their social media content, a move that comes amid the ongoing political rift between the president and the pop superstar.
A TikTok video posted six days ago showing Trump and first lady Melania Trump, which originally featured Swift's song "August," now plays without audio. The caption remains unchanged, reading, "mood because it's August and Donald Trump is your president."
Another clip shared by Team Trump in November 2025, which had included audio from Swift's track "Father Figure," has also had the music stripped. That video shows the president on the White House steps and footage of him pumping his fist after the assassination attempt during the Pennsylvania campaign rally.
Swift, who has not publicly commented on the removal, has been a vocal critic of Trump. In the 2024 election cycle, she endorsed then-Vice President Kamala Harris, writing on Instagram, "I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris ... in the 2024 presidential election." She added, "I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos."
Her opposition dates back to 2020, when she posted that Trump was "WELL AWARE we do not want him as our president." Trump has repeatedly fired back, at one point declaring "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!" and later writing, "Has anyone noticed that, since I said 'I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,' she's no longer 'HOT?'"
The removal of Swift's music from official posts follows a pattern of the administration's strained relationship with artists. Unlike Ariana Grande and Katy Perry, who have openly objected to their music being used in White House content, Swift has remained silent on this latest episode.
Swift, 36, holds the record for the highest-grossing concert tour with her Eras Tour (2023-2024), was named Artist of the Decade at the American Music Awards in 2019, and is one of the youngest inductees into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
The White House and Swift's publicist did not respond to requests for comment. The move comes as the administration faces scrutiny over its handling of various issues, including the ongoing Iran conflict and the recent appointment of a new White House counsel.
