Sixty years ago, after a series of attacks on women walking alone at night, the 'Take Back the Night' movement emerged, highlighting how fear had stolen women's right to safety. Today, a broader 'Take Back America' campaign is needed, arguing that thieves have stolen the nation's core ideals, standards, symbols, and even its language.

The far right, critics argue, has wrapped itself in the American flag, transforming it into a symbol of hatred, intolerance, racism, and insurrection. The movement calls for reclaiming that flag as a unifying emblem. Similarly, seditionists and militant groups have redefined patriotism, despite attempting to overthrow the Constitution and push America away from the vision in the Declaration of Independence. The label 'patriot' itself needs to be taken back.

Trump Orders Israel and Iran to Cease Fire as Regional Tensions Boil Over
President Trump called on Israel and Iran to halt hostilities after a weekend of cross-border strikes. Iran subsequently declared an end to the fighting, blaming Israel for restarting it.

Thugs wearing masks and badges have stolen the peace of American cities, but Minneapolis residents have shown how to reclaim tranquility. The MAGA movement and Donald Trump have effectively stolen one of the nation's two major political parties, and honorable Republicans are urged to take it back. Trump has also damaged America's global reputation, undermining the idea that a free people can govern themselves. Restoring democracy and the nation's role as a beacon of hope is essential.

The presidency itself has been stolen, with Trump conducting what many call the most corrupt administration in history. The White House, once the people's house, has been remodeled and gilded like a sheik's palace. Trump is now attempting to steal the most basic democratic right: the vote. Republican-led states are passing voter restriction laws and gerrymandering districts to favor their party, as seen in New York's push to shift redistricting power to the legislature. The integrity of the vote must be reclaimed.

Trump has sold out the government to corporations and special interests in a 'pay to play' system. Conservatives are also stealing history by removing or rewriting the history of slavery and racism, arguing it causes 'white guilt.' This is akin to Germany redacting the Holocaust. To avoid repeating past travesties, as Santayana warned, we must study them. The concept of manhood itself has been stolen, with Trump as the leader of the 'manosphere.' His adviser Stephen Miller advocates force and absolute power as 'the iron laws of the world,' but these are laws of the jungle, not civilization.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth promotes 'maximum lethality, not tepid legality,' a standard that has led to atrocities like Wounded Knee, My Lai, No Gun Ri, and Haditha. Trump has ordered military attacks in at least 10 countries, more than any modern president, and has threatened others, including Greenland, Canada, and Panama. For instance, the House passed an Iran war powers resolution, though Trump dismissed it as meaningless. America's role as a stabilizing force must be reclaimed.

Hypermasculinity has even infected religion, with some evangelical Christians reportedly seeing Jesus as too liberal. Russell Moore, former editor of Christianity Today, noted that 'turn the other cheek' is now seen as a weak liberal talking point. 'When we get to the point where the teachings of Jesus himself are seen as subversive to us, then we're in a crisis,' Moore said. The movement calls for reclaiming manhood by balancing strength with empathy, openness, and collaboration.

We have allowed thieves, vandals, ideologues, and power brokers to steal our country. It's time to take it all back.
