Rock legend Phil Collins has sharply criticized President Trump, describing him as “nasty” and warning that his transactional view of governance is dangerous. In an interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored, the former Genesis frontman said Trump “plays politics like a businessman,” but argued that running a country and managing international relations is “not really a business at all.”

“It’s diplomacy,” Collins said. “Sometimes you can lose, but still come out winning.” The 75-year-old singer, known for hits like “In the Air Tonight,” contrasted Trump’s approach with that of past presidents, who he said were “eloquent and elegant.”

Johnson Warns Democrats Will Impeach Trump If They Win House
House Speaker Mike Johnson warns that Democrats will impeach President Trump on day one if they win the House, but Democratic leaders are cautious.

“Historically, presidents have been eloquent and elegant. You feel like even if you don’t agree with them, you still respect them,” Collins told host Piers Morgan. “But when someone like Trump is as nasty as he is, you end up feeling dislike for him.”

Collins also expressed concern about Trump’s repeated hints at seeking a third term, despite the constitutional two-term limit. “It wouldn’t surprise me if he just tries to overrule the two-term deal,” he said, referencing the 22nd Amendment. Trump has teased the idea but has acknowledged that the Constitution is “pretty clear” on the matter.

Morgan, who said he has known Trump for a “long time,” replied that he doesn’t think Trump would attempt it, adding, “The one thing I’ve learned is never to be surprised by him because nothing is surprising.” Collins, however, doubted the system would allow it, saying even Trump’s own party and followers would oppose such a move.

The interview comes amid ongoing political turmoil, with Trump's approval ratings at record lows and Republicans facing an uphill battle in the midterms. Collins’ remarks add to a growing chorus of critics who view Trump’s style as a departure from traditional presidential decorum.

His comments also echo concerns raised by other figures about Trump’s ability to energize opposition voters and his unpredictable behavior that has rattled even his own party.

Collins concluded, “It’s very scary with what’s happening,” underscoring his unease with the current political climate.
