In a stunning about-face, former InfoWars host Alex Jones on Tuesday called for President Trump's immediate impeachment, claiming the administration's handling of the Iran conflict has spiraled “absolutely out of control” and warning that a military draft is being prepared.
During a live segment on X, Jones urged Congress to invoke the War Powers Act and stop what he described as an unauthorized war. “The big issue is how to stop Trump. And we have to have Congress go for the war powers,” he said. “They’ve tried three times to vote on war powers—they’re supposed to authorize a war. This is a war; they’re getting the draft ready. If this isn’t a war, nothing’s a war.”
Jones’s remarks come as the White House has not ruled out reinstating the draft. In March, press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump had not taken the option off the table for the Iran conflict, raising alarms among anti-war advocates and some lawmakers.
Jones, once a vocal supporter of Trump, now says the president’s actions are “impeachable,” specifically pointing to his backing of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The House recently passed the $1.15 trillion annual defense bill for fiscal year 2027, which includes funding for operations in Iran even though Congress has never formally approved the conflict. Critics argue this violates the Constitution and sidesteps the War Powers Act, a law meant to limit presidential authority to engage in military action without congressional consent.
Democrats had already pushed to remove Trump via the 25th Amendment in April over his continued airstrikes on Iran. Jones now says that effort was justified. “They want us in a total war so they can censor and take our freedoms, nationalize everything, and push us aside with AI—total liability, immunity, and protection,” he warned. “This is a disaster. We are facing tyranny, but the public’s awakening.”
He framed the situation as a cross-partisan emergency. “We’ve got to come together and transcend left and right, and we have to say no to an expanded war that will definitely destroy the economy and kill a bunch of our troops,” Jones said. “They’re preparing a massive ground invasion. It’s all confirmed. This is going down right now.”
The call for impeachment marks a dramatic shift for Jones, who built a following promoting conspiracy theories and backing Trump. His new stance mirrors broader unease among some conservatives as the Iran conflict drags on without clear congressional authorization.
