Rapper Nicki Minaj took the stage at a Michigan rally on Sunday and pledged her support for President Trump should he seek another term, a striking endorsement from a pop culture figure who once kept her distance from the president.

“So, President Trump, it is an honor to stand with you every single time, and I will continue to support you forever and ever. If you run again, I will support you again,” Minaj said, appearing alongside Trump in support of Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers.

Trump weighs relocating White House press corps amid pool dispute
Trump says he may relocate the White House press corps, denying pool restoration plans, as his administration faces backlash over press restrictions.

Minaj, who has dubbed herself Trump’s “No. 1 fan,” has worked with the administration on several initiatives, including the rollout of “Trump Accounts” for newborns. She also traveled to the rally aboard Air Force One, a sign of her growing closeness to the president’s inner circle.

White House communications director Steven Cheung added to the buzz by floating Minaj as a potential next press secretary. In a post on X, he wrote, “Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary! @NICKIMINAJ,” alongside a video of the two on Air Force One.

In that video, Minaj described Trump as “a man who’s won three elections,” a reference to his baseless claims that he won the 2020 contest against Joe Biden. Trump has repeatedly asserted the election was rigged, despite no evidence of widespread fraud.

Minaj went on to praise Trump’s work ethic, saying, “[Trump] wakes up at 4 o’clock in the morning. He outworks people that you know are half his age, and you know what does that say about his character? He knows that he will be fine.”

“He can kick his feet up and just, you know, chill out for the rest of his presidency. But no, he’s paying it forward,” she added. “He’s thinking about the other Republicans that have to win during these elections, and so that tells me that he’s a great guy.”

Minaj’s endorsement marks a sharp reversal from 2020, when she said she would not “jump on the Donald Trump bandwagon.” Since then, she has become a vocal supporter, appearing at a Treasury Department summit for the Trump Accounts program and at Turning Point USA’s annual conference.

The rally comes as Trump has been campaigning in Michigan amid a tight Senate race, and as the administration faces scrutiny over its handling of election security. Cheung’s press secretary quip drew attention, though it is unclear whether he was serious about hiring Minaj for the top communications role.

Minaj’s comments also echo Trump’s ongoing attacks on media coverage and his economic messaging as the midterms approach. Her support could energize some voters, but it also highlights the unusual blend of celebrity and politics that has defined Trump’s rallies.
