In the 2nd District, former Rep. Elaine Luria is seeking a rematch against Republican Rep. Jen Kiggans, who defeated her in 2022. Luria faces a primary challenge from former USAID worker Patrick Mosolf, physician Nila Devanath, and conservationist Bill Fleming. The winner will take on Kiggans in what is expected to be one of the most closely watched races in the country.
Meanwhile, in the 7th District, three Republicans are vying for the chance to challenge first-term Democratic Rep. Eugene Vindman. The GOP field includes entrepreneur Philip Harding, Army veteran and consultant Doug Ollivant, and pastor Ricky Smithers. Vindman, who rose to prominence during the first impeachment of President Trump, is seen as a vulnerable freshman in a district that leans slightly Democratic.
